qualmsUpon hearing Pretty.Odd., you figure out why Panic At The Disco dropped the exclamation point; the whole thing is just sort of droll and unexciting. Nothing really stands out much. I respect them for wanting to make this album on their own terms, but they could have made an album that had something resembling a pulse, and not recycled vaguely-Beatles-sounding tunes. I couldn’t wait for the thing to be over so I could pass judgement while being somewhat fair. It was painful to get through.
It’s just really disappointing when you have a terriffic and lively first album with grandiose, dramatic, catchy hooks and pop-sensibility and follow up with something that’s duller than Eisely. that being said, while I'm in a mood for airing grievances: Being ~*cryptic*~ and pretentious =/= intellect. I mean, just look at Audrey Kitching. That's really all I have. It just bothers me when these smart guys have this amazing appeal and a sort of mystery, but then they decide that being "cryptic" and pretentious will play up their smarts. Not to other smart people it won't, babe. It kills any sort of attraction I had to them.
